Your race is the heart of your character. It is who they are at their core. Their thoughts, feelings, and upbringing are influenced by their race. This week we’ll be taking a look into the races of D&D and how they shape your character. Today we’ll be talking about tabaxi.
The tabaxi are a race of catfolk who fight the old adage of curiosity killing the cat. They are lore seekers, coveting knowledge above all else. Sure, treasure is useful, but it’s not necessarily interesting. A tabaxi’s curiosity for knowledge drives him to adventure. They love to seek knowledge, and this love pushes them to explore the corners of the earth to learn more. If they do seek treasure, it is to learn about the history of a magical artifact, or a relic that is important to a civilization.
These treasure and lore hunts come in sporadic bursts, however, as a tabaxi. Their obsessions will be fleeting. That treasure they just spent 2 months searching for may be traded away for a night at the inn buying drinks for the patrons and learning their stories. A tabaxi is always looking for that new adventure, that new story to learn about.
Tabaxi can make for excellent adventurers of any class, but their knowledge seeking disposition lends them to be excellent bards and wizards. But a true adventure seeker can come in any class. What character will you create? Will it be a tabaxi, or one of the other races that we’ve covered? Let me know in the comments below. Until then, keep those dice rolling high!
